Meet Our Licensed Marriage & Family Therapist

Seth Davidson, LMFT

Seth joined ProPartners Healthcare in January 2025. A Kansas City native, Seth obtained his Bachelor’s degree from Kansas State University (1999) and has Masters degrees in both Marriage and Family Therapy (Friends University, 2023) and Theological Studies (Nazarene Theological Seminary, 2012). Seth has 20+ years of counseling experience and also serves on the pastoral staff at a local Presbyterian church.

As a licensed practitioner, Mr. Davidson is passionate about providing holistic hope, health, and healing for individuals, couples, and families by integrating the best of clinical counseling from the foundation of spiritual, pastoral care. Due to the critical connection of the physical body to mental well-being, he sees the great power and potential of integrating therapeutic services within the primary care setting, and is thrilled to collaborate with the ProPartners doctors and medical staff for the maximum benefit and optimal outcome of each patient.

Seth is a proud husband and father who has deep roots in Kansas City. He is a die-hard sports fan (go, fight, win Jayhawks!), loves being out in nature (either in the mountains or on the lake will do), and is meaningfully invested in his neighborhood and school
communities (there’s nothin’ greater than a Raider!).

Meeting With a Counselor FAQs

Q: How can a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT) help me?
A: LMFTs provide therapy focused on improving your relationships within your family, couple, or other significant connections, address mental health issues (like anxiety or depression) within the context of your relationships, and teach you skills to navigate challenges and conflicts more effectively within your family dynamic. They can help you work through issues related to communication, boundaries, conflict resolution, and overall family functioning.

Q: What should I expect during my first appointment with a LMFT?
A: During your first appointment with a LMFT, expect to spend a significant amount of time discussing what brought you to therapy, your current life situation, and your goals for treatment. The therapist will likely ask many questions about your personal history, relationships, and symptoms to gain a comprehensive understanding of your needs, and you will likely discuss ground rules for future sessions and how to best communicate with each other.

Q: How often will I need to meet with a LMFT?
A: Most people typically start by meeting with an LMFT once a week for therapy sessions, but the frequency can vary depending on your individual needs, the severity of your issues, and your progress in therapy. As you progress, you might gradually decrease the frequency to every other week or once a month for maintenance check-ins.

Q: Can a LMFT help with anxiety?
A: Yes, a licensed marriage and family therapist (LMFT) can help with anxiety. LMFTs are trained to assess and treat a wide range of mental health issues, including anxiety. They can use a variety of therapies, including cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) and relational therapy.
